Seems like we may have to wait a bit more to go to a theatre for a good film because many Bollywood movies are heading towards direct-to-web release. After a long hiatus of 3-4 months, filmmakers decided to release let go of some of their upcoming films for OTT release. We are seeing some big films like Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, Laxmmi Bomb, Khaali Peeli among many others having a direct-to-web release on OTT platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime among others. Even after theatres are re-opening, films like Coolie No. 1, Drugavati and others have opted for an OTT release, keeping the safety of their fans in mind. 

Yes, this morning, Varun Dhawan took to social media to make an official announcement about his upcoming film Coolie No. 1. The film co-starring is set to release on the OTT platform Amazon Prime Video. Coolie No 1 will release on Christmas 2020. Taking to Twitter, Varun Dhawan shared the good news and Tweeted, “Ab har sawari ke samaan aur entertainment ki responsibility hogi Coolie No. 1 ki, koi shaq? #WorldPremiereOnPrime #CoolieNo1OnPrime, coming Christmas 2020, @PrimeVideoIN” Coolie No. 1 joins the list of 9 films that will be released on the same platform.

Apart from Vaun and Sara’s Coolie No 1. Rajkummar Rao and Nushratt Baruchaa’s Chhalaang and Bhumi Pednekar’s Durgavati will release on Diwali, Nov 13 and Dec 11, respectively.

Coming back to Coolie No 1, the film was earlier scheduled to release on May 1, 2020, but due to the Lockdown, owing to COVID-19, the film was pushed to an unknown date. Now, it’s release on an OTT platform will surely be treat for all VD and Sara fans.
